Written by one of the foremost economists of India who has the unique reputation of having predicted the recent elections in India, Citizen Raj: Indian Elections 1952-2019 examines the determinants of elections in India, with a ‘special’ focus on forecasting the 2019 general elections.

Considering the author was part of the Prime Minister Economic Advisory Council (PMEAC), he has unmatched access to election data of each political party, as also top leaders of the BJP and Congress. However, the larger aim of the book is to become the reference ‘go to book’ for any aspect of elections in India, or elsewhere in the world.
Surjit S Bhalla obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton, 1977, a M.P.A. in 1972 from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University, and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1969.
He is the Chairman of Oxus Investments and was till recently a member of PMEAC. He lives in New Delhi.
