Due to vast diversity of nature, the state of Gujarat has become one of the hotspots of biodiversity of India. The national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are paradise for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Deciduous forests, deserts, grasslands, wetlands and marine locations have made the state a pleasant place for bird watching and wildlife viewing. It is the only home for Asiatic Lion and Asiatic Wild Ass. Gujarat is famous for the Great Indian Bustard, Lesser Florican, Greater Flamingo, Lesser Flamingo, three types of Pelicans and plenty of tree and ground birds of which many are endangered and vulnerable.


BISWAJIT ROY CHOWDHURY is a well-known wildlife conservation practitioner, environmentalist, nature and wildlife photographer. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Environ, member of INC-IUCN, member of West Bengal State Wildlife Board and Founder-Secretary of Nature Environment & Wildlife Society (popularly known as NEWS), an NGO working for conservation of wildlife and environment. He has authored numerous books on wildlife conservation.

SHILADITYA CHAUDHURY is a renowned communication consultant and restaurateur. A passionate wildlife photographer, he is the Associate Editor of Environ and the governing body member of Nature, Environment & Wildlife Society (NEWS). He is also a regular columnist for various nature, travel and wildlife magazines.
